Ulrich Volz, Prime Economist at the German Development Academy, is now teaching about International Finance and Global Monetary Relationships at the Graduate School in FUB.
He once studied Economics at Philips University, University of Kent, London University, Yale University and FUB and achieved the Doctor degree in FUB. Before he joined German Development Academy in 2007, Ulrich Volz was a Fox International Fellow as well as a Marx Carter Fellow, appointed to be a researcher in Peterson Institute for International Economics, Ulrich Volz once worked for EBRD and European Central Bank. Besides, he worked as an assist researcher for the International Monetary Policy Academy of German Federal Foundation in FUB and a consultant for KFW in Hanoi. The research of Ulrich Volz focuses on International Finance, Globalization of Currency and Finance, Macroeconomics under the open environment and reforming economics.
The introduction of the lessons:
This course discusses the current state of research on five topics in international finance. Topics that will be addressed include the costs and benefits of financial globalisation; exchange rate choices and implications for monetary policy autonomy; currency and debt crises; problems associated with global liquidity; and international currencies.
