From February 25 to June 10, 2021, Dr. Shan Ji, a visiting professor of Macquarie University, Australia, taught the students enrolled in master’s degree programs of the School of Finance in 2020, “Big Data and Internet Finance,” both online and offline. This program was supported by the “Talent Introduction Project of the Central University of Finance and Economics.”
During the lecture, Dr. Shan Ji’s team vividly introduced the concept, connotations, market applications, and practical operations of fintech. Through the online demonstration and lecturing, his team taught the students the financial big data programming foundation. After resuming offline teaching, Dr. Shan Ji’s team led the students about the market mechanism, phenomena, etc. It explained applying big data analytical technology in the financial analysis under the existing market mechanism.

In addition, Dr. Shan Ji’s team organized the students to exercise financial big data applications using raw trading data and give a group presentation. The students were divided into groups by major. The team members played to their strengths and worked together to complete a group exercise and production based on real data from the financial market. By reorganizing and analyzing the trading data of SSE and HKEx from September 2014 to January 2015, the students completed an exercise on applying big financial data. They examined the impact of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Shanghai-London Stock Connect on the stocks included since their launch based on transaction-by-transaction data. During the presentation, Dr. Shan Ji commented on the content of the students’ production and exchanged opinions with them entirely, which deepened their understanding of how to apply and analyze big data in the financial market.

During the lecture by Dr. Shan Ji’s team, the master’s degree programs students attended classes actively and timely, had heated discussions and asked questions after class, and carefully completed the big data analysis exercises. After the class, Dr. Shan Ji’s team patiently answered the students’ course and employment in great detail. At the end of the period, Dr. Shan Ji’s team gave a lecture on cloud computing, which broadened the students’ horizons.
