On February 21, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Announcing the First List of Virtual Teaching and Research Offices for Pilot Development ([2022] No. 2). The “Virtual Teaching and Research Office of FinTech Major” jointly filed by 15 universities in Eastern, Central and Western China under the leading of our Dean Professor Li Jianjun was put onto the list, marking an essential breakthrough in the construction of new grass-roots teaching organizations when our university is seeking the application of information technology.
As one of the first groups of virtual teaching and research offices designated by the Ministry of Education, the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of FinTech Major insists on fostering virtue through education as its fundamental task. Fully leveraging the resources of cooperative universities and related units aims to promote teaching reform and innovation, sharing various professional and high-quality teaching and research resources, and forming a sustainable professional development mechanism for teachers. It pools efforts to develop a multi-tiered teaching and research system across different regions, improves China’s FinTech programs in a coordinated way, strives to put in place a sharing mechanism of high-quality teaching resources for FinTech major, trains and nourishes several excellent teaching teams, works towards connectivity, co-improvement and sharing of resources across universities, and tries to build a novel model of developing virtual teaching and research offices for “neo-liberal arts” with unique characteristics.
The Virtual Teaching and Research Office is a crucial endeavor for innovating the development of grass-roots teaching organizations in the era of information technology application and thereby holistically enhancing the teachers’ skills to impart knowledge and educate people. Guided by the selection into the first group of virtual teaching and research offices for pilot development, we will focus on improving talent cultivation capabilities, adopting modern information technologies for stronger multi-dimensional coordination in teaching and research across different majors, universities and regions, and shaping new ideas, methods and paradigms for the development and management of grass-roots teaching organizations, to provide powerful support for the building of first-class undergraduate programs and the training of financial talent that meet the requirements of the new era.
