“China'sFinancial Development and Discipline Construction on the 40th Anniversary ofReform and Opening-up Seminar”, hosted by the Central University of Finance andEconomics and undertaken by the School of Finance of CUFE, was solemnly held inBeijing Petroleum Science and Technology Communication Center on the morning ofDecember 2nd, 2018. Professor Jianping SHI, Vice-President of the CentralUniversity of Finance and Economics, attended the seminar and made a speech. Thekeynote speakers are Researcher Yang LI, former Vice-President of the ChineseAcademy of Social Sciences and Chairman of National Institution for Finance& Development, Mr. Zhengsheng ZHONG, Chairman and Chief Economist of CaixinInsight CEBM, and Professor Jian LI, the National Outstanding Teacher andprofessor of the Central University of Finance and Economics. The conferencewas attended by more than 260 people including over 50 experts from GalaxySecurities,AnsteelGroup, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China,etc., industry mentor, teachers and students of School of Finance. Vice-President Jianping SHI pointed out that theyear of 2018 is the 40th year of reform and opening-up, which deserves to becommemorated and summarized. In the past 40 years, with the rapid developmentof China's economy and finance, financial higher education has also made rapidprogress. It is of great significance for the transformation of China'seconomic and financial development in the new normal state to carefully sortout and summarize the achievements and experiences of development.

In the keynote speech, Researcher Yang LI summarized the achievements of China'seconomic and financial development in the past 40 years of Reform and Opening-upunder the topic of “40 Years of China's Financial Reform and Opening-up:Retrospect and Prospect”. He holds the opinion that the greatest achievement offinancial development in the past 40 years has been to effectively support therapid economic growth through financing. He believes that the top priority offuture economic development is to manage financial risks, achieve financialdevelopment reform oriented by real economy, promote the development of bankmarket and capital market, improve the existing financial supervision system,vigorously develop Financial Technology, Inclusive Finance and Green Finance,and steadily promote the internationalization of RMB.

Subsequently,Mr. Zhengsheng ZHONG gave a keynote speech entitled “Current FinancialSituation and Financial Reform”. Starting with the trade warbetweenthe US and China, private investment, RMB assets and other hot issues, heanalyzed a series of transformation opportunities and historical challenges facedby China's economy.

Then, Jian LI, the National Outstanding Teacher, Professor of CUFE and DoctoralSupervisor, summarized the development and reform of the finance disciplinefrom a historical perspective. On the basis of analyzing the current situationand problems of financial discipline construction in China, she put forwardsome ideas and countermeasures for further strengthening financial discipline construction.

RenxiaGE, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Finance, announced thedecision on the appointment of Industry Mentor.
