Atthe invitation of the President Kailat Krembetov of the Astana InternationalFinance Center (AIFC) in Kazakhstan, Professor of the School of Finance andDirector of the Center for International Financial Studies, Liqing ZHANG, attendedthe ‘Astana Finance Days’ during 3rd and 5th July, 2018,and attended the opening ceremony of AIFC.
Atthe ‘Astana Financial Days’ forum on the 3rd and 4th July,Professor ZHANG gave a speech on the Role and Prospects of the RMB Internationalizationin the Implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
ProfessorZHANG made some suggestions for the construction of the Astana InternationalFinancial Center. He pointed out that in order to build AIFC into one of theinternational financial centers of Central Asia and even Asia, the relevantauthorities in Kazakhstan should improve the investment environment, strengthenfinancial infrastructure construction, ensure macroeconomic and financialstability, so as to attract more global financial institutions. At the sametime, the center can make full use of Kazakhstan's resource advantages andactively carry out commodity futures trading such as oil, to make it animportant global trading center. In this regard, cooperating with the ShanghaiFutures Exchange, the AIFC can launch RMB-Denominated Oil Futures Trading whichshall have broad prospects.
Onthe morning of the 5th July, the Astana International Finance Centerheld a grand opening ceremony, and President Azabayev delivered a speech. As aguest, Professor ZHANG was invitedto attend and witnessed this important event with more than 500 people who are dignitariesand experts from international organizations, government and business all overthe world.
