From September 17th to October 21st, Professor Sara Dora Hsu of the State University of New York at New Paltz came to the School of Finance to teach the course "Chinese Economy and Finance". This course, mainly for the international students of Finance Master Program, was affiliated to the 2018 short-term teaching OEI project hosted by Professor Jianjun LI, and funded by the special fund of the International Cooperation Office of CUFE (Project Number: DQJX20180013).
With her profound academic background and superb teaching skills, Professor Sara fully mobilized the students' enthusiasm for learning. Firstly, she explained to the students the historical stages of China's economic development and summarized the developmental motives and characteristics of each stage (Traditional Era, Socialist Era and Market Transition Era). Then, Professor Sara gave a detailed explanation of China's development from the aspects of Urbanization, Population Structure, Industry Structure, and Financial System.
During the course, Professor Sara focused on guiding students' interests, encouraging students to discuss China's economic and financial hotspot issues, and inspiring students to explore the status quo of China's economic and financial development. The atmosphere of the class was very active. After each class, Professor Sara interacted with the students and carefully answered questions for the students with her profound professional knowledge.
In this course, Professor Sara used a variety of teaching methods to combine economic theory with practical issues, explaining the development of China's economy and finance in simple terms, which benefited the students a lot.
